Josephine Clifford McCrackin's house Gedenkheim, on Pacheco Avenue
A full view of Josephine Clifford McCrackin's house Gedenkheim, built in 1909, on Pacheco Avenue. There were several local fund-raising events held in 1909 to benefit the "Josephine McCrackin Home-building Fund." Materials for the house were donated by local lumber companies and hardware merchants. The lot was donated by the Laveaga Realty Company. McCrackin was a writer whose work appeared in Bret Harte's Overland Monthly and in the Santa Cruz Sentinel. She was instrumental in the drive to establish Big Basin State Park and in the founding of the Sempervirens Club.
