The Truth: Charter Amendments and Sewer Construction

A 1926 political leaflet from the Santa Cruz Taxpayers' Association endorsing Section 17 in next election, which creates a budget and plan for creating a sewer system. The leaflet is spirited, recalling local rumors that the California State Board of Health colluded with the Taxpayers' Association to create a false quarantine to guarantee an election win. There is also a strong economic element, as the Taxpayers' Association is comprised of business owners concerned for persistent damage to their properties due to the lack of this system.

The date was coordinated from the mention of President Calvin Coolidge, plus details on the election on the website for the California Water Environment Association (CWEA). [As it was, the amendment was approved and led to the creation of the city's sewers.]
