Santa Cruz Yesterday Garfield Park Tabernacle
History of the Tabernacle built in 1890 by the California Christian Society and was used for many years for their annual meeting. It could seat 400 people in four tiers around an octagonal shape. The land for the church was donated by city leaders on what was once cow pastures. The dedication was attained Ed by many prominent people. It burned in 1935, being destroyed completely with 200 foot high flames.
