Wildlife board OKs grant for Quail Hollow Ranch

Santa Cruz Water board has approved a grant for $200,000 to purchase Quail Hollow Ranch from the Santa Clara Board of Education. Santa Clara purchased the ranch in 1974 for $600,000 and used it for a time as an education center and retreat. originally, the ranch was developed by Joseph Kenville in 1860 who operated a large ranch and vineyard on the property as well as vegetables and fruit orchards. the produce was sold in Santa Cruz as other small towns did not exist yet.
