Santa Cruz county was able to secure the winning bid and purchase Quail Hollow Ranch over several other buyers. Even though their bids were higher, the County was able to provide the cash up front to the Santa Clara County Office of Education. Several other local citizens and trustees on the Santa Clara board expressed satisfaction that the land would stay in local hands and that the County would be more able to monitor the protected plant and animal species located there.
