History of Santa Clara on Mr. Pierce

Story of James Pierce and his business ventures including lumber and a saw mill near Mt. Shasta and in Ben Lomond. He had the first band saw in use in California. He also owned the Empire God Mine for a time and he founded the Bank of Santa Clara. He also was a founder of Mills SEmissary, later Mills College. He has seven children who went on to be successful in their lives and he is buried with his wife in San Francisco.
