Caught for Not Paying His Debts: Career of a Hypocrite as Church member and Good Templar
Description of Milo Hopkins who moved to Boulder Creek four years ago and joined the Methodist church and was a member in good standing. he also belonged to he Good Fellows organization. However, he began to ran a debt with one being $200 to Cunningha’s and Co. He married to a lady with good standing and moved to Santa Cruz. His reputation caught up with him and it was discovered that he had a habit of running up debt and that he had a second wife in Portland who was coming to Santa Cruz. Fearing his was going to leave town the sheriff arrested him for evasion of debt.
