Tom Crichton Interview
Tom related memories of his daily ritual which included fishing early in the morning and then all the children nearby would meet at the river to swim and jump off rocks, rope swings and a wooden diving board. All children had to be able to swim by 4 years old. They would wait for the trains to come by and wave at the conductors. there would be he 4pm freight train, the 6pm tourist train and the 7pm train with the mail. Faye Ellis describes a walk through the neighborhood with Mr. Crichton where he points out the party houses and where friends of his lived. He said all the kids would gather in the evening and toast marshmallows, have skits and play games. They didn’t need electricity and never had it.
