Death of Patrick W. Hickey

Patrick W. Hickey, one of the old time and best known residents of the county, died shortly after midnight last night at his home in Felton.

He had retired for the night, but awoke with a feeling of suffocation. Thinking to get relief, he arose and went into an adjoining room, when his wife, hearing him fall, rushed to his side to find that death had been instantaneous.

The deceased was a native of New London, Conn., and 65 years of age. He leaves a wife, a son George, a brakeman on the Boulder branch, and a daughter, Mrs. J. A. Rountree of Felton.

For forty-three years he has resided in this county, thirty of which have been spent at Felton, where he has been engaged in business.

He was a veteran of the Civil War, but has never been a member of the G.A.R. He was making an application for membership when his certificate of discharge was burned in the courthouse fire.

His funeral will be held Sunday afternoon from his late home at Felton. The interment will be in the Felton cemetery.
