DIED: HESSE- In Santa Cruz, March 1, 1930, Herman H. Hesse, aged 86 years, a native of Somerset Ohio.

Herman Hesse Dies Suddenly

Herman Hesse, one of the best known residents of the mountain section, was found dead yesterday in his bed at the family residence on the Big Basin road.

The birthplace of Mr. Hesse was at Somerset, Ohio 86 years ago, and his home has been in this county for 47 years.

He was married 44 years ago and is survived by his widow, seven daughters and six grandchildren. His only son, Fred Hesse, was killed in an accident in a logging camp near Aberdeen, Washington, last July.

His daughters are Emma, Vesta and Alice Hesse of Berkeley, Lillian Hesse of San Francisco, Mrs. Mary Walker of San Jose, Mrs. Laura Fraser of Reedley and Miss Frances Hesse, a Presbyterian missionary in India.

The body is at the Wessendorf mortuary in Santa Cruz. Funeral services will be conducted by the Odd Fellows lodge in Boulder Creek Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial will be in the Boulder Creek cemetery.

Services For Herman Hesse

Christian Science services were held yesterday afternoon at the chapel of the Wessendorf mortuary for Herman Hesse, for many years a resident of the Boulder Creek section.

Many were present from the San Lorenzo valley and beautiful flowers were about the casket.

The burial was at the cemetery at Boulder Creek, where the services were by the Boulder Creek lodge of Odd Fellows.
