Watsonville Pajaronian (September 27, 1900)
Edward H. Hicks
Pioneer Cemetery, Watsonville

About Tuesday noon Edward Henry Hicks was found dead in a buggy shed on his place near Pajaro. His death was due to a gunshot wound in the head, and from the appearance of the body and surroundings it is believed that Mr. Hicks accidentally discharged an old muzzle-loading shotgun. The ramrod was in his left hand. Mr. Hicks was the father of Mrs. F.E. Mauk, of Pajaro. He was a native of England, aged 70 years, and was a veteran of the Civil War. He had been in fair health, and there is no reason to believe that his death was due to any other cause than accident.
