Old Soldier Answers Call
Another Civil war veteran has answered the final call. This time it was William Bescherer who died at his home on Broadway yesterday leaving a wife and son. The deceased has lived in this city for five years. He was a native of New Jersey aged 73.
Mr. Bescherer was a member of the 23d MI Inf and served three years during the war. The Grand Army will take part in the funeral service.

Old Soldier Laid to Rest
The funeral of William Bescherer was held at C.C. Chase's undertaking parlors at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning. It was largely attended by sympathizing friends. Services were conducted by members of the G.A.R. and were very impressive. Col. W.V. Lucas making appropriate remarks showing the esteem in which their silent comrade was held.
The many flora offerings were of purple and Easter lilies, smilax ferns and white cyclamen. Members of the relief corps were in attendance. Mrs. George Gridley and Mrs. M.C. Jones rendered hymns, "Nearer, My God to Thee," "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and Rock of Ages;" E. Colvin accompanist.
The pallbearers were Commander H.A. Wagner, Col. W.V. Lucas, Comrades C.M. Burritt, C. Bibbins, J.R. McAdams and W.R. Sargent.
The aged widow has the heartfelt sympathy of all. Etta L. Colvin, P.C.
