Dame Cottage, one of the Carmelita Cottages. The exact date that Captain Timothy Dame built the home is uncertain. However, newspapers found inside the walls during its renovation are dated in 1872.

Dame cottage, one of the six Carmelita Cottages. The cottage was built by Timothy Dame, a steamer captain. In 1993, after renovation, Dame cottage and Johnson cottage were opened as a hostel run by the Santa Cruz Youth Hostel Society.

The renovated Johnson cottage, one of the Carmelita cottages. The cottage was built by Thomas V. Johnson, a saloon keeper, around 1872. The Santa Cruz Youth Hostel Society renovated the building and in 1993, it became a hostel.
