Knights Opera House

The Knights Opera House was located on Park Street (later called Union). It cost $4,200 to build and opened on November 23, 1877, with a performance of the Bohemian Girl. "Nothing is lacking which is found in the first-class houses of the metropolis. Under Mrs. Knight's liberal and wise policy of booking the very best companies, the greatest actors of America who have appeared on this coast have presented their parts behind the footlights of the Santa Cruz Opera House." (Quoted from "Santa Cruz County" 1896)
