Norton Pratt (1918/?)

"Put me among the girls" was Norton Pratt's request accompanying his photo in the 1914 Santa Cruz High School Trident yearbook.

Norton Pratt was born about 1896; however, details pertaining to his early life have not surfaced. He spent part of his senior year at Santa Cruz High School and became "prominent at once in track athletics, football and student affairs." Included among those girls that he wished to be put among was silent screen movie star Zasu Pitts, a member of his 1914 high school graduating class. The school's Trident newspaper of May 10, 1919, noted that Norton Pratt "meant much to the school while with us and left a large circle of friends."

After graduation, Pratt enrolled in Cornell University in New York and remained there until his junior year when he left to enlist in the US Navy. He was only in the service a short time before he contracted pneumonia and died in a New York naval hospital. Details regarding Norton Pratt's military service and death have not been located, nor has his place of burial.
