Ernest E. Guin (death date unknown)

The name Ernest E. Guin (Serial No. 39096232) was included in the US War Department's listing of World War II casualties from Santa Cruz County, California. No information is currently available as to his family or physical connection with the county.

Enlistment records reveal that Ernest Guin was born in South Carolina in 1921 and had completed grammar school and one year of high school. At the time of his induction into the service, he indicated that he was a resident of Santa Cruz County, was single and employed as a commercial vehicle driver.

Ernest Guin was drafted into federal service in San Francisco on July 19, 1942. The branch of Army was not designated and he was assigned the rank of private. No information has surfaced as to his training or subsequent unit. The US War Department's casualty list indicates that Guin was a private at the time of his death and that his death was of a non-battle related nature. The date of death and the location of the remains of Private Ernest E Guin have not been identified.
