Lawrence R. Davis (death date unknown)

The name Lawrence R. Davis (Serial No. 39837684) was included in the US War Department's listing of World War II casualties from Santa Cruz County, California. No information is currently available as to his family or connection with the county.

Lawrence Davis was born in Oklahoma in 1912. In addition to finishing elementary and high school, his military enlistment records indicate that he had completed two years of college. Those same records noted that in January 1942, he was a resident of Santa Cruz County, single and was employed as a vegetable farm hand.

Davis was inducted into the army in San Francisco on April 14, 1942, and assigned the rank of private. No information has surfaced as to his training or unit assignment. The US War Department's casualty list indicated that Davis was a private first class at the time of his death and that his death was of a non-battle related nature. The date of death and the location of the remains of Private First Class Lawrence R. Davis have not been found.
