Lydon’s book is over 500 pages addressing the history of the Chinese in the Santa Cruz County. It discusses drivers that brought the Chinese here and how they struggled or succeeded in the face of intense prejudice. The author Don Miller has some commentary about his issues with some parts of the book that gloss over this prejudice as well as he feels the book simplifies the contributions of the Chinese to the success of agriculture, industry, and later real estate.
