Boulder Creek's First Business and the Temperance Movement
The two men represented two forces in Boulder Creek that were opposite one another. W.O. Clark arrived in 1873 and took up lodging with the Credifords. He announced the beginnings of a series of public lectures at the local schoolhouse that preached against the problems with drinking. The battle ends with the burning of the first salloon one night and the disappearance of A.R. Sousman.
