Along the History Trail

The author describes the Temperance Movement during the lumber industry heyday in Boulder Creek. Various movements such as the Womens’ Christian Temperance Movement, the Templar group and the local Washingtonian Society joined forces to campaign for laws prohibiting its use. However, the number of saloons continued to grow and the battle went on for years until success was achieved with the passing of laws against drinking.
