Oxen played big parts in Lumber Days Years Ago
From the Civil War to World War I San Lorenzo Valley was the center of lumber operations in Northern California. Oxen were used extensively in the remote areas to drag the logs down to the mill. They wore bells to warn others of their presence on the mountain and in the roads.
