He Remembers When...
Jim Moncrief is 90 years old and legally blind but still rolls bandages for a leper colony and keeps himself busy. He immigrated here with his parents from Canada when he was four and grew up in Boulder Creek close to Lorenzo. He took the train to Santa Cruz High as a teenager and also worked for Fred Swanton after moving to Santa Cruz to take care of his buggy. He spent some time at the Alaska gold fields until the cold got to him and also spent some time in Honolulu. He re-settled in Boulder Creek in 1946 after retiring and has been here ever since.
