Mrs Clement recalls Valley history

Recollections of Mrs. Frank Clement who moved to Boulder Creek with her family in 1876 from Ireland. Her father wanted to get established in the booming lumber industry in town. There were 18 lumber mills there at the time and her father had mule teams that helped move the lumber to market. She remembers her house on the edge of town where it was not unusual to see mountain lions, coyotes, deer and other creatures outside. She became a school teacher in 1915 and taught at Boulder Creek School where she had 60 pupils. She was also in several Westerns filmed in Boulder Creek and she earned ten dollars per day for being an extra on movies with Tom Mix and William S. Hart.
