History of Boulder Creek

The Southern Pacific Railroad established the town plan for Boulder Creek in 1884 but it had been settled 17 year earlier. A road was built from Ben Lomond to support Allesworth Mill in 1863 and extended further up the valley later. In 1865 the lumber industry began in earnest and over the next five years was settled by many timber men. One was Telford George Berry who Berry Falls in Big Basin was named for.
