Renowned painter Fred Colbus dies

Colby’s started his career as an illustrator at Walt Disney studios and STars and STripes in the military. He also did other graphic arts on the side and sold cards and other illustrations for a living. He moved to Santa Cruz in the 50s and began doing acrylic painting which he stated he could sell more quickly than oil paintings.
