Along the History Trail

The long history of this area includes its original gift to Buena who let the claim lapse after giving his timber rights to Ambrose Thomlinson and Job Dye. Thus began an influx of Americans to the area including Isaac Graham to establish the first powered sawmill in California. The article describes the early days of the lumber industry and the connections of the original settlement to the eventual Bear Flag Revolt.
