The San Lorenzo Road
The road that would one day become Highway 9 is about six and a half miles long and was completed by several contractors over two years. It is through beautiful scenery and the grade is so gentle that horses can trot both up and down the road. Comments are made in the speeches that day about the coming route to be laid up to the summit and over to San Francisco as well as travel by train.
