Ben Lomond: Town of Lively, Seriously

Review of the history of the Ben Lomond area pioneers, first with the timber industry and sawmills with names like, Bennett, Hicks, Love, and Pierce. Then when the timber was gone it turned to little cottages and and a resort industry with a new town name. Resorts like the Rowardennen supported tourists and the residents turned to farming, wine, fruit orchards, and dairy. Notable names as the town grew included C.P. Davis, who owned the newspaper and other businesses before being accused of fraud, The first school was built and the Ben Lomond Post Office. Power was provided by running a power line from the coast in the early 1900s. The article also mentions the Bonnie Doon community as well.
