Fall Creek: A Place Unspoiled
Describes the history of the Fall Creek area with first inhabitants being indigenous tribes searching for nuts, berries and other food stuffs. Then the area becomes part of a land grant during the Mexican American period and then an important lime production site. Much of the lime from the area was used to rebuild San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake. Barrels were made to transport the lime on the North Fork of Fall Creek and the redwood trees were used to provide fuel for the kilns. Eventually, production shut down and the site was abandoned. In the 1960s, vagrants took over some of the buildings and wound up polluting the creek. The campsite was sleared out and the buildings torn down. Eventually the area was donated to California and became a state park.
