Ben Lomond's Celtic Tradition
Background behind the town name of Ben Lomond. The mountain in the area was first named Ben Lomond by John Burns of Bonny Doon because it reminded him of a site in his home of Scotland. Then the Ben Lomond Post Office did not want to have the town named after the Pacific Mill Lumber Company and wanted a new name. They thought Ben Lomond would be fitting and the tradition of Scottish names and festivities was established.
