The Useful Tan Bark Oak
History of the use of the tan oak in the tanning industry starting with the Spaniards and then becoming a thriving industry in the area. The tan oak bark was stripped from the trees and brought down by wagon to be ground and added to the water for tanning the hides. now it is done with chemicals.
