When storm hit, the system failed
Multiple articles presenting new analysis and discussion about the precursors and response to the January 82 storm. One article notes that maps existed from 1975 that the area where the Love Creek slide occurred had evidence of a previous landslide from an analysis done by flyover in 1975. Another article discusses the proposed changes at play in response to the disaster including reimbursement for losses, requirements for geologic surveys prior to building and installation of rain intensity gauges to monitor how fast rain is falling. A last article notes the connection between unsupervised building that was for summer use only was never meant for full year occupation.
