The Calmes House

the Willeys lived in the house until 1926, then followed by various other owners who used it for various purposes
- was once used for a lampshade factory
- 1943 was sold to the Daughters of Charity for around $2-4,000, used as a convent
- Only major restoration done as of recent was the modernizing of the kitchen by Deedie Calmes and her husband

SC Historic Preservation Commission has designed a walking tour for visitors to view the Victorian houses in the area
"The Walk Around Santa Cruz Book" by Margaret Koch gives a look at the city's "architectural treasures"

"For anyone needing help in restoring a Victorian, the Santa Cruz Planning Department in City Hall has a 'preservation resource file' which includes lists of historical fittings such as decorative plaster ceiling rosettes, embossed hinges, fancy patterned shingles and wooden gingerbread trim."
