Twenty- eight homes were abated in April of 1982 because of a recommendation by the Army Corp of Engineers that an area near, but not involved, in the landslides was also at risk and should not be inhabited. Lawsuits have been filed related to the decision and an appeal had been in the works. the residents have asked that the appeal hearing be postponed while the lawsuits are active. The postponement was granted.
