The tannery used local cattle hides and the abendent tan oaks in the area. The tannery was located at the junction of Lockheed and Mt. Hermon Rd is today. A series of owners continued production of leather, some leaving to join Fremont in the dispute over California. it was also owned for a time by the Joseph Scotts.
