Artifact, possibly 8,000 years old, is unearthed
An 8,000 yer old cutting tool has been found in the archeological site near Scotts Valley City Hall. this site has had over 150 amateur and professional archeologists combing the area designated for a parking lot to find important historical artifacts. The soils is very sandy and many arrowheads, stone tips and parts of many tools. The dating of the cutting tool would indicate that this is one of the oldest sites in Central California. The three day dig is the conclusion of a bitter fight between city officials and scientists over the creation of a parking lot at a known archeological site.
