Scott's Valley's Beginning

Hiram Scott and his family purchase the 4400 acres Rancho San Augustin and built their home in 1853 along the road. The home was moved higher off the road in 1936 but one can still see evidence of the construction from square nail heads to tight fitting of the walls and flooring by the builders. The house is in a style see on the East Coast where the family hails from. It is currently owned by the Scotts Valley Historical society and is being reconstructed to its former state in the 1800s. New excitement recently was the discovery of a 10,000 year old Hokam culture site which is one of the oldest civilizations in Northern California.
