Downtown walnut tree tells tale of history
Author tells the background behind a large Walnut Tree that resides on Cedar Street, formally named vine Street. Recently at risk of being taken down due to its messy leaf and walnut droppings, it was saved by a group of citizens that said it was an important part of history and should be saved. it now has a “tree doctor” and people airing for it and still remains. It once was next to the Scott family’s home (of Scotts Valley fame). and the Pacific Ocean House was a well known hotel that many tourists stayed in after arriving by stagecoach and train. The hotel gradually declined and was torn down by the early 1900s but the tree still remains
