Murieta's kill won't get a historical marker

Original request for a plaque came from members of the American Foreign Legion based on Harry Love’s contributions to exploration and military campaigns in he War with Mexico. Several protest letters were received by the Council where the writers believed that the Mexicans had no recourse but to seek revenge as there property was stolen from them during the gold rush. The letter writers feel it would be wrong to celebrate the killing of two men who were fighting for their property and the right to live in California.
