Two at a Fireside
This quaint poem, written in March of 1904, is dedicated to the Santa Cruz Library / Santa Cruz Public Library.
I built a chimney for a comrade old,
I did the service not for hope or hire-
And then I traveled on in winter's cold,
Yet all the day I glowed before the fire.
I built a chimney for a comrade old,
I did the service not for hope or hire-
And then I traveled on in winter's cold,
Yet all the day I glowed before the fire.
