Harry Love's Expedition

Description of the expedition by boat that Harry Love led up the Rio Grande river for 1400 miles to survey for the possibility of steamboat travel. He was gone for 6 months and brought back with him several specimens of mini rails found there. Harry Love determined that steamboat travel was possible with some clearance of obstacles and he plated an American flag at the farthest point he reached.
