Letter from Francis McCabe to Faye Ellis

Letter written recounting memories of Mr. McCabe living in Ben Lomond. The family moved to Ben Lomond in 1897 and her father was a foreman for the Highlands owned by the Andersons They lived in the cottage near the entrance to Highlands. His father remained on the property in his later years as a custodian when Mrs Anderson died. They then moved back to Ben Lomond and lived there for 16 years. The children went to elementary school there and high school in Bounder Creek. His Dad got into horticulture work and transfer business and worked for Alice Wilder's family when she was little and also at the Dickenson Hotel. The author of the letter notes that Ben Lomond was a busy place with the lumber industry and the many resorts for people from the Bay Area.
