ARbor Day tree planting gives Americans a link with the future

Original celebrations started by a man named Morton who grew up in Vermont and felt sorry for the people in Nebraska for having no trees. He proposed to the legislature that they set aside a day for planting trees and gave prize for the individual or organization who planted the most trees.
