Streamlined Transportation in the 70s: Logs and Men Traveled by Water for Eight Hectic Years

Outlines the flumes history and usage for the logging of trees near Boulder Creek and then transporting them to Felton to load on the train to the wharf. Men also rode the flume to monitor the logs progress and sometimes to carry messages from the lumber camp to the train station. Also discusses the hardships of travel in the area and the role of the narrow gauge train in opening up access to Santa Cruz and Santa Clara for industry and tourism.
