Notes on the 1906 earthquake

Many notations of how cut off from any news local residents felt with no telephone or telegraph lines. The tunnels collapsed through which the trains from over the hill traveled so no news could come by train. the only train into town was from Watsonville. Many residents from San Francisco who had summer homes in the area relocated to go to school and find work while their city home was being repaired. Several notes regarding the smoke from the fire in San Francisco was so thick that it blocked out the sun and people became very fearful of what had happened with the quake. Some minor damage to businesses and homes in the San Lorenzo Valley. Residents began to collect money and supplies immediately to send to San Francisco relief.
