Lett to Faye Ellis from John Brown's Farm and Grave Historic Site
Letter from Edwin Cotter of the John Brown Farm responding to Faye Ellis’ questions on Jason Browns wife and children. After his father and two brothers were killed or executed in Harper’s Ferry Jason Brown moved west to Kansas. He lost his child Austin on the boat ride due to cholera and while ashore to bury him the boat left and he had to keep going by stagecoach. His brother exhumed the body later and reunited son with father in Kansas.
