Veterans History Project: An Interview with Willard Patterson

Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1933, Willard S. Patterson was drafted into the Army in September 1953, after the Korean armistice signing in July. He served in the Army from 3 September 1953 to 5 August 1955. He was in Company 8, 710th Tank Battalion, 101st Airborne Division, and stationed in Fort Sill, Fort Campbell, Etajima, Pusan, Seoul, and Fort Ord. At the 8th Army Headquarters in Seoul, he was a clerk-typist and served in Special Services on the Far East All Army Swim Team. He reached the rank of Private First Class.
