Cummings Tells Details Of New Local Picture

Irving Cummings, noted Fox motion picture director, before leaving for Los Angeles last night, elaborated on information carried in The News' exclusive story last evening about the coming next month to this city of another Fox troupe for the filming of another of the company's numerous stories in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

"The title of the story to be filmed here next month is "Pigs," Mr. Cummings said, "and is the filmatization of the legitimate play of the same name now enjoying greatest success in New York. It is a John Golden production. I will bring about forty persons to the St. George and we will remain here more than two weeks for our coming filming. We will arrive about the eighteenth of the month."

Mr. Cummings added that since making "The Johnstown Flood" in Santa Cruz he has been "itching" to get back here. "We not only encountered ideal scenic and climatic conditions here," he said, "but the film since its Eastern premier has experienced astounding success." He gives full credit to Bob Jones, proprietor of the St. George, for bringing the numerous Fox units to Santa Cruz, and states that the studio management in Hollywood looks to Mr. Jones as an authority on mountain locations in this portion of California.

"We are going to utilize Mr. Jones' prize St. George ranch herd of Duroc-Jerseys in the filming of "Pigs," the director added. He informed that Janet Gaynor, ingenue lead opposite George O'Brien in "The Johnstown Flood," will return to play the feminine lead in "Pigs." Studio work on the new story, he informed, will get under way in Hollywood on Monday next."
