Sudden Death of Old Soldier

F. S. Wallace, the step father of E. V. Moody, died suddenly on Saturday evening at five o'clock, the result of a paralytic stroke received during the afternoon. He had been apparently well on Saturday previous to the attack and was on the street. To make matters all the sadder his wife is sick in bed. Mr. Wallace, who resides at New Monterey came to this city about a month ago for the benefit of his health.

The deceased was an old soldier having served throughout the Civil War, and was Past Commander of the G.A.R. Post at Pacific Grove. He was a native of Michigan, aged 65 years. Mr. Wallace at one time was the Superintendent of Schools of San Benito Co. Besides those mentioned he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Sterling Bromlee, of Kentfield, Marin Co., who is now on her way to this city.

The deceased is to be buried in this city, most likely under the auspices of the G.A.R.
