Funeral of the deceased will be held from the late residence 27 Sunnyside Av. Tomorrow (Thursday) at 10:00 AM.

DEATH OF H.D. TENNEY
An Old Soldier Passes Away at the Family Home

Henry Durgin Tenney, an old soldier, and a member of Wallace Reynolds Post, G.A.R. passed away at the family residence on Sunnyside avenue where he has resided for the past five years, and where he has been ill but has been tenderly cared for by his devoted wife who survives him.

He came a number of years ago from the east and settled near Soquel on a fruit ranch and where he made many friends and was a highly esteemed and good citizen.

He was a man very patriotic and served his country during the Civil War.

Mr. Tenney was 74 years old and a native of New Hampshire.

Henry D. Tenney Passes Away

At his home on Sunnyside Av. on the 11th instant passed away Henry D. Tenney after a lingering illness of more than three years.

He was born in Concord, N.H. more than 70 years ago. He left the old Granite State when 17 years old came West and located in Minneapolis, Minn., where he remained until 1895, when he came to Santa Cruz Co. and located. In 1865 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Northrup in Minneapolis, who has been his faithful wife and companion ever since and is left to mourn his loss.

In 1862 Mr. Tenney enlisted in Co. G, 6th Minnesota Inf.., and served a full enlistment of three years. His ability as a superior penman was soon discovered and he was detached from his company and made quartermaster sergeant, a most responsible place, and he filled the place so well and efficiently that he was retained there until the end of his enlistment. Mr. Tenney was a an expert and superior with the pen. His military service was a most honorable one. As a citizen he was noted as being progressive and active in all public matters, highly esteemed by all who knew him.

He located on a ranch out of Soquel a mile or so on the Watsonville road, where he resided until his health failed him so he had to give up work, then he traded his farm property for property in the city and lived on Sunnyside Av., comfortably and patiently awaiting the end. He was a well informed, a careful reader and weighed what he read well. He was calm and carefully made all arrangements for his business and wife knowing death was on his track.

Henry D. Tenney was a good soldier a good man and a citizen who will be missed in the community.

Funeral of H.D. Tenney

Rev. Ed. McCreary of the Pennsylvania Ave. Methodist Church on Thursday afternoon conducted the funeral services of the late Henry Durgin Tenney at his late home 27 Sunnyside Ave. The G.A.R. of which the deceased was a member attended. Interment was at the SCruz/OMP Cemetery, and the pall bearers were Henry Hertz, Phineas H. Lay, Jefferson Sickler, Philip Hynes, W.N. Lucas and G.M. Shippy.
